Perimeter and Volume Maths Unit Level 3 and 4

AO L.3

AO L.4

  • Find areas of rectangles and volumes of cuboids by applying multiplication
  • Use side or edge lengths to find the perimeters and areas of rectangles, parallelograms, and triangles and the volumes of cuboids

Learning outcomes

estimate and measure metric lengths, multiply to calculate the area of shapes, use formula to calculate areas of shapes

Learning Process

  • Pretest area, perimeter and volume
  • Students look at their test and identify what their learning goals need to be and timetable their learning

    Assessment Task

We now have a 21st Century technological classroom; it is no longer a traditional classroom. How can we arrange our classroom to suit our new style of learning and all the equipment we use? Create a plan with dimensions of area, perimeter and volume to show what this new class environment would look like.

Tools you can use Google Sketchup and Lego Digital Designer, PowerPoint, Word or Keynote. Make models with boxes or real lego or blocks. If you have another idea, discuss it with your teacher.
