How to make a Text Box in Word

Click on the Text box tool on the Draw toolbar

If the Draw toolbar is not at the bottom of the screen click on the Draw button on the Standard toolbar

Click and drag a box with the mouse. Click inside of the box and type. Change font, size and style by selecting the words first.

Activity: How to make a Badge

Click and drag a text box
type your name in the box
select the text by pressing Ctrl - A on the keyboard
select font, size (36 is good) and style
select colour by clicking on the text colour button which is on the Draw toolbar

Change the border on the badge

click once on the border, the lines will appear like below
to make a change to the border you need to click the border again so that it looks dotty
now you can use the line tools to change the colour, and the line thickness (these are on the Draw toolbar)
you can make a patterned line by clicking on the arrow next to the line colour tool
and select Patterned lines (Hint: to see the patterned line clearly you need to make the line thickness as thick as possible, click here to see how to make lines thicker than 6 pt)
you can change the background color of your border by clicking on the Fill tool on the Draw toolbar

if you would like a more interesting background you can use Fill effects
the last stage of the badge is inserting the graphic
