Advanced Users of Wikis and Blogs

You have started a Wiki and/or Blog and now you would like to add more to it to make it more interesting and informative for your readers. Find out what widgets and gadgets are available for education use  to bring your blog alive. Discuss what content could be added and how it can be presented in many different ways. Multiple Intelligences and ICT

Everybody has one or several intelligences that are more highly developed than other intelligences. Our students like to learn in different ways and using technology is one of those mediums. Experiment with a multitude of online and offline applications that cater for the different intelligences. See how other ICT technologies apart from computers can be used to further develop those intelligences. Plan your next unit using those applications and tools.

Wikis, blogs and cool Web2.0 tools

Create a class website with individual pages for your children to showcase their work. Use the free tools available on the internet to make this happen. Experiment with free software that will publish your students’ work in ways you have never seen before. Identify the tools that you are going to be able to use with your students in the class. Find out how simple this can be and transform the teaching, learning and assessment in your classroom practice.

You will need to have examples of student’s work on your laptop this can be any WordProcessed documents, Word, PowerPoints, Keynotes; photos of art work, handwriting samples, test results; Kidspiration and Inspiration documents, in fact any work they have completed. Find out how to use your school digital or digital video camera in an innovative child-centered integrated setting, by learning how to use the features on your own school or personal camera. Use this new found knowledge to take part in a variety of activities and develop a bank of activities that can be used in your school at your own particular level. CI, The road to Curriculum Integration

There are several stages teachers can go through before they are fully integrating ICT into all curriculum areas resulting in a child centred environment. Some of these stages could comprise of a complete change in teaching style. This course will enable you to identify where you are on the Curriculum Integration scale and establish what you need to do to further develop yourself as an ICT literate classroom practitioner. Participants will see examples of teaching and learning at the different stages and collect a bank of activities, ideas and management techniques that can be used back in the class.

Get to know your Laptop

Learn how to operate and navigate in Windows XP, Vista or Apple OS10.

Participants will learn how to find programmes, organise folders and files, perform basic troubleshooting and find out how to do basic computer maintenance. See how to save to computer, CD and memory sticks. Learn how to put music on your laptops and organise and find your photos. Finally learn some tips and tricks when working with Word.
