Technological

Knowledge

Technological Modelling

Understand that functional models are used to explore, test, and evaluate design concepts for potential technological outcomes and the prototyping is used to test a technological outcome for fitness of purpose.

Learning Experiences: (examine, identify, discuss, collect, observe, compare, read, describe)

·       Brainstorm places that you can go to in Auckland that are fun, interesting and informative (Auckland Tourist areas Kidspiration file),

·       Discuss what is a tourist, identify what sorts of things tourists would like to do

·       View tourist destinations in NZ, plot their whereabouts on the NZ map, identify what makes them a tourist destination (NZ tourist areas (Kidspiration)

·       Identify what are famous tourist destinations in the world, look at Google Earth, type in keywords to see famous places

·       Look at a variety of tourist brochures, identify what information they tell you

·       Find out what an information or Tourist Kiosk is, view one on a visit, identify what the presentation tells you

Technological Practice

Assess

Brief Development

Explain the outcome they are developing and describe the attributes it should have, taking account of the need / opportunity and the resources available.

Learning Experiences:(generate, select, develop, adapt, present, test & evaluate, draw, model,
plan)

·       Identify what country you would like to create an information presentation about

·       Research what tourist opportunities there is available using at least four keywords for searching

·       Plan your presentation by storyboarding it (Storyboard (Word document), conference with the teacher what outcome you want and how you are going to achieve it i.e. resources etc (Assessment)

·       Create presentation using PowerPoint

Nature of Technology

Characteristics of technology

Understand that technology both reflects and changes society, and increases people’s capability.

Learning Experiences: (impacts, cultural values, attitudes, behaviour, preferences, beliefs &
values)

·       Identify why certain tourists places are special to people (Mangere Mountain)

·       Survey children and adults of holiday destinations, develop questions for survey using the
Fat and Skinny questions Graphic Organiser
