Year 1-6 Level One and Two
Situation: Christmas is coming closer and we all like to have nice treats to eat
Design Brief: design attractive, yummy finger food that children might like to buy from our class stall
Specifications: - must be suitably packaged
- must look nice
- must be edible
- packaging must include the ingredients provided
- must be set at a reasonable cost
Technological Knowledge and Understanding
Objective: Level 1.1 ask questions and offer ideas about the use and the operation of everyday technologies such as packaging and perishables etc
Objective: Level 2.1 explore and discuss the use and the operation of technologies in everyday use

1. investigate types of food that are typical of celebrations
2. explore packaging, looking at colours/expiration dates/barcodes/list of ingredients etc
3. examine methods of storage of food
4. compare different price structures

Technological Capability
Objective: Level 1:6c discuss their ideas, intentions, progress and outcomes with others
Objective: Level 2:6c show and describe examples of their intentions, progress and outcomes to others
Learning Experiences:

1. make and test different nibble choices
2. select a final solution and design appropriate packaging
3. design advertisements to promote your new food product in your class stall

Objective: Level 1:8 share ideas about the ways in which familiar technologies affect their lives
Objective: Level 2:8 explore and compare the roles of some example of technology in daily life in their own and in other time and place
Learning Experiences:

1. investigate how other cultures store their food
2. investigate the history behind specific celebration food, find out what is significant about the food, in some cultures the procedure of preparing the food is very important make reference where necessary, make comparisons to their own daily life
