Egyptian 'Pharaoh Simulation Unit' (PSU).

First steps

students will need to have Clearfile folder, scrapbook or ringbinder that will be their Assessment Portfolio. Everything they do with the PSU will be recorded in here
Pre-assessment question; 'What do we know about Egypt?' Students are organised into groups of four and complete a Mindmap using Inspiration, (order it from Norm Jaegar at Edsoft)  Microsoft Word or paper and pens (Click here for How to make a Mindmap using Microsoft Word)
introduce the students to the 'Pharaoh' software by first showing the PowerPoint presentation that introduces them to the topic
show the 'Pharaoh Simulation Centre' and talk about the different components in it. Click here to see how to set up a learning centre.
Click here to get copies of Help cards (note: these are just a starter, students will need to develop their own help cards as they progress through the game
students within each group will need to have a rotation system setup so that there is equitable access to the computer
there needs to be an equitable class rotation setup for the allocated Pharaoh simulation time
How to start the Pharaoh Simulation game
For the students final activity
'Prepare a presentation that identifies key factors for the forming of a successful social group in Ancient Egypt and make comparisons to New Zealand today. Consider what attracts immigrants.' Gawith's 'Action Learning Framework' will be used as the main source of framework.
