-         Introduction: show students prepared PowerPoint slideshow introducing Pharaoh software and focus question of the study

-         Introduce students to PSU centre and identify resources that are available to them in the classroom

-         Present Student Assessment folder and explain how all research, notes and activities need to be recorded

-         Organise groups of children to work on Pharaoh, identify organisation of time on timetable

Main Tasks

-         Using simulation software and recording sheet students start at the basic level and move through subsequent levels, identifying and recording what actions they have taken to ensure success

-         After moving through the introductory scenarios, students will need to plan for their ultimate city. They will have a screen capture for reference of the layout and the resources available to them. They will need to collaborate in their groups and make decisions with justification as to how they will set up their city. This is a non- computer activity. This will involve decisions about organisation of social groups, identification of necessities,

-         Students will have access to the class PSU homework page that has activities that link to Internet sites. Task sheets will be used for assessment purposes
